Timeless Wisdom

So last Friday, September 11th was my great-grandmother's 91st birthday! Ever since I was little I have always loved my Momma Mary so so much! How could I not, I am named after her (along with my other great grandmother, Mary Belle). Momma Mary has always had such a wonderful sense of humor, she is very clever! She never fails to ask me every time I walk in the door, "Sit down and tell me what you know and how come you to know it"...usually followed with a "can I get you a beer?"

I have definitely noticed for a while now that Momma Mary knows she is nearing the end of her life, and makes certain she speaks some measure of wisdom into my life every time I visit (it is usually wrapped with a lot of humor)! For example, on Friday she wanted to know where Matthew was and how come he wasn't with me. I explained to her that he was at work and I had taken off for the afternoon to come and visit with her. She then proceeds to tell me, "Megan, your husband is so handsome. I don't know how in the world you ended up with him! (cackling with laughter)" and, "but he better treat you good!" We continued with some small talk and then she grabbed my hand and looked me straight in the eyes and said, "Megan, I am so very proud of you. Continue to follow the good Lord's path for your life and you will never go astray." Those words will echo in my mind forever.

So Happy 91st Birthday Momma Mary, and I pray many more to come! Just like she told me on Friday, "I've made it this far, I better make 100!! (cackling with laughter)"
