Measuring Success

Over the past couple of weeks I have been challenged with this question, by what do I measure success?... Is it how much money I have in the bank? How big my house is? What kind of car I drive? What types of clothes I can afford to wear? Is it my title at work? Or even how popular I am among my friends?

I am sometimes guilty of viewing life through a humanistic approach. Where the "end all" is human happiness in this life. What an error in mindset! Everyone on earth questions what, or who, this life is for, and all creation points back to God. "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." Romans 1:20

So if my life purpose is for God, then shouldn't I also measure my success by how well I glorify Him? For God did not call us to a life of happiness, but a life of holiness.
