Jobs, House-building, Birthday, and River
Ok, so this month has been crazy busy for us. Why do we all stay so busy all the time?
Matthew has been very busy with video work. It is such a joy to be able to serve God with the talents that He gives us! Matthew and his video work is a prime example of such joy! I have moved departments in my job, from development to visitor services. I have really enjoyed the transition so far, I stay crazy busy all the time and am enjoying the opportunities to really be kind (good customer service) to others.
Our house is coming along, pictures to come later. They have the building permit and have plotted and cleared the lot for our new home. We are struggling with being patient, we are ready to move NOW! :) However we are also trying to enjoy the last few months in stress free living!
My birthday was last Thursday, the 20th! I absolutely love birthdays. Having a birthday means that we are alive and blessed to have lived another year! Matthew really outdid himself for my birthday, I am nervous wondering how I am going to match him for his birthday! Many thanks for all the wonderful blessings and gifts from everyone. I am so blessed!!
We got to spend this past weekend on the river. It was so wonderful to have this weekend to really enjoy spending time together! We definitely needed a little R&R!! We left out Friday afternoon and enjoyed having a quiet dinner and watching some Titans football. Saturday we enjoyed a wonderful day out on the water with good friends, Jacob & Miranda. They wore us out on the water so we just crashed with some pizza on Saturday night! My parents had us over for lunch on Sunday to celebrate my birthday! Nothing like a good home meal (especially when you're not the one cooking). I love visiting my parents in the summer, I always come home with lots of fresh veggies!!
Our church has been studying through the Sermon on the Mount, which has really challenged Matthew and I to take a hard look at our lives! What are our motives behind our actions? Do our lives line up with the teachings of Jesus? Do we truly love our enemies? How do we pray? Are we truly investing in the kingdom of God? These are just a few questions that we have been wrestling with the past month. I am so thankful for everything that we are being taught right now! Some lessons are painful but imperative for growth!
Tonight we are having dinner with some friends/mentors that we love dearly! Maybe this week I will get my act together and post some :) Love to you all.
