My Hope

Today is Good Friday, and for me and other Christians around the world it is a great Friday! I have been thinking all morning about the sacrifice that our Savior made for us. I don't understand it. Why would the God of the universe send his only Son to be mocked, scorned, flogged, beaten, and murdered for the sins of the world? We definitely don't deserve this gift He has given us, and that is what makes God so great. That God demonstrated his love for us that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us! (Romans 5:8) He has made peace through the blood of His cross (Colossians 1:20) My heart is troubled heavily today though...for those who don't know or have this great gift.

Matthew and I were driving around a couple of weeks ago as a storm was approaching. We watched the night sky being lit up with soft lightning. It was the kind of lightning where the entire sky lights up but no thunder follows. We could even see the outline of the storm clouds! It was beautiful. We started talking about Jesus coming back in the clouds and what a joyous occasion it will be. We chatted about what he will look like and how we can't wait to see Him, to meet Him, to kiss Him, to sing to Him, to spend all of eternity with Him.

I have read so much in the news lately about all the evils in the world. It seems that every day that passes this world just gets more evil. I think it is a sign of the times and that the end of the world is at hand, but this is simply my opinion. However, we can see prophecies beginning to be fulfilled all around us. No one except God the Father knows when He will send His Son to redeem His people. But this time when He comes, He will not come as Savior. He will come as King to judge the world.

As you celebrate the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord, take a few moments to praise Jesus for the power, hope, and eternal life you have because of His resurrection!! Share this good news with someone today! Happy Good Friday!
